Account & Data Deletion
Pre-release notice. Shadowmire is in closed beta (Android internal testing). This is a development-stage policy and may change; the binding version takes effect at public launch. During beta, account and gameplay data may be wiped between test phases regardless of any deletion request. The final, binding versions of our legal documents — including the governing law, dispute-resolution terms, and complete legal-entity and representative details — will be published at public launch. If these documents ever conflict, the Terms of Service govern, then the User Agreement, with the Privacy Policy governing data matters.
This page explains how to permanently delete your Shadowmire account and the personal data tied to it — what we remove, what we are legally required to keep and for how long, and how long the whole process takes. It satisfies the Google Play account-deletion requirement and applies to both shadowmire.studio and play.shadowmire.studio.
1. Request deletion now
You can ask us to delete your entire Shadowmire account and its data at any time. Until self-serve deletion ships (see the next section), send us a request and we will handle it for you.
To request deletion:
- Email privacy@shadowmire.studio with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
- Send it from the email address of the Google account you use to sign in to Shadowmire — this is how we confirm the request is really you.
- If you are writing from a different address, include your in-game display name (name#tag) and player ID so we can find your account.
- We verify the request against your signed-in account, delete it, and email you to confirm when it is done.
- You can also reach us for help through our support Discord or the Beta FAQ, but a deletion request should be sent to privacy@shadowmire.studio so it is logged and tracked.
2. Self-serve deletion (coming soon)
A "Delete my account" button will arrive with the full account system, alongside email/username sign-in and TOTP two-factor authentication. When it lands, you will be able to start deletion yourself from inside the game and from your account settings, without emailing us.
Right now Shadowmire uses Google Sign-In only, so the email request above is the way to delete your account during closed beta.
3. What gets deleted
When your request is completed, we permanently remove the personal and gameplay data we hold for your account, including:
- Your account and its link to your sign-in provider (email, provider account ID, and the name/profile we received from Google Sign-In)
- Your profile: username, display name#tag, birthdate (which we only use for age-gating), and region/country
- Your characters, level, quest and world progress, and settings
- Gameplay and activity data, soft-currency balances, and owned in-game items
- Cosmetics you unlocked or purchased, and any founder/beta cosmetic honors
- Chat and other content tied to your account, and device/technical identifiers collected at sign-in
4. What we keep, and why
A small amount of data is retained after deletion only where the law requires it, or briefly for security. We do not keep any of it longer than needed, and we anonymize or delete it once the required period ends.
Note: purchases are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your card or payment details.
- Purchase and transaction records — kept in pseudonymized form only as required by tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention law (typically up to 5 years), then deleted or fully anonymized.
- Security and abuse logs — kept for a limited period to protect the service against fraud and abuse, then deleted.
- Encrypted backups — residual copies in routine server backups are purged within 90 days of deletion.
- After these periods, no personal data associated with your account remains on our systems.
5. How long it takes
We confirm your request and complete the deletion within 30 days, and email you when it is finished. In practice most deletions are done sooner. The limited records described in section 4 are removed on their own legal schedule, not the 30-day window.
6. This can't be undone
Account deletion is permanent. Once your account and gameplay data are removed, we cannot restore your characters, progress, items, currency, or cosmetics — including any beta or founder honors. If you sign up again later, you start fresh.
Separately, because Shadowmire is in beta, account and gameplay data may be wiped between beta phases even if you have not requested deletion. Founder status and cosmetic honors are intended to carry across those beta wipes; a deletion you request does not.
7. Prefer to remove only some data, or withdraw consent?
You do not have to delete your whole account to change what we hold. Depending on where you live, you can also access a copy of your data, correct it, export it, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw a consent you previously gave.
To remove a single character without deleting your account, delete that character in-game from the character-selection screen. For anything else — correcting your details, exporting your data, or withdrawing consent — email privacy@shadowmire.studio and tell us what you would like changed. Use the full-deletion steps in section 1 only when you want everything removed.
8. Accounts linked with Google Sign-In
Shadowmire currently signs you in with Google. Deleting your Shadowmire account removes the data we hold and our access to your Google profile — it does not delete or affect your Google account itself.
If you only want to stop Shadowmire from using your Google profile but keep your game data, you can revoke our access from your Google Account under Security (or Data & privacy) > Third-party access. Important: revoking access this way does not delete your Shadowmire account or gameplay data — to erase those, use the deletion request in section 1.
When Apple, Facebook, or email/password sign-in options arrive, the same rule applies: unlinking a provider is not the same as deleting your account.
